Full description: Charter schools across the country face a variety of challenges when it comes to securing suitable facilities to operate their programs. Many charter schools lease school buildings (or buildings that are converted into school space) from third party commercial landlords.  In order to protect schools from many of the risks associated with leasing real property, is important to understand not only the issues that arise during the negotiation of any lease transaction, but also the unique issues applicable to charters schools. These issues include, without limitation, charter term limits, specific occupancy requirements, heightened sensitivity to environmental conditions, security requirements and school budget constraints.
